A President's Day Special
George Washington and Abraham Lincoln: Their Relationship with the Delaware General Assembly
Monday, February 21, 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Presenter: Dr. Carol Hoffecker

Presidents' Day presents a timely opportunity to revisit the relationship that Presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln developed with the State of Delaware through the First State's most powerful governing body, its General Assembly. The presentation will focus on the General Assembly's reaction to major events in our nation's history: specifically the Revolutionary War, the early days of the American Republic, the unraveling of the Union, the Civil War, and the end of slavery.

The "Jewel Box" at the Archives features a return visit of Delaware's copy of the Bill of Rights, which is permanently housed at the National Archives.
